Who are we?

Otintiko is an online shopping destination dedicated to coffee (a marketplace), designed to bring together in one place everyone who grows it, transforms it, sells it, and enjoys it.

Here, the idea is simple: make direct buying more accessible and put what truly matters back at the center — taste, story, terroir, and the fair worth of the work done at the source, in countries of origin.

  • A clearer, more human way to buy coffee
  • Coffees selected for their quality, transparency, and traceability
  • A project that gives greater visibility to those who produce exceptional coffees

Our story

Otintiko was born in 2022, at a time when, after a global economic upheaval, many players had to reinvent themselves and digital became essential.

On the ground — especially in Costa Rica — we discovered how specialty coffee can go hand in hand with high standards, sustainability, and artisanal know-how: three pillars that are essential to building a more resilient coffee value chain, today and for future generations.

One thing became clear: there was a missing simple, reliable bridge between these artisans and people looking for meaning and authentic coffees.

Our mission

Share the richness and diversity of coffees from countries of origin, and make them visible and accessible to as many people as possible.

Three pillars guide us:

  • Highlight the work that defines a coffee’s quality.
  • Make direct selling easier.
  • Help coffee lovers choose with confidence.

Our vision

We imagine a future where the people who make coffee at origin — often family-run, human-scale structures — have the place they deserve in the value chain.

Otintiko aims to support this shift by becoming a reference for direct buying: a place where you can discover, compare, understand, and buy with confidence — relying on consumers’ common sense and the power of e-commerce to encourage fairer commercialization.

Why give origin its fair value back?

Most of the coffee consumed worldwide is grown on family farms, driven by passion and high standards… yet in the traditional model, these are often the ones that capture the least value. When coffee is sold only as cherries, earnings mostly follow market prices and rarely reflect the real effort invested in the fields to reach excellence.

As a result, in some seasons the price can even drop below production costs, weakening these farms and their ability to make a decent living from their efforts. To take back control, some choose to process their harvest and create their own brand, so they can benefit more from the added value of their work.

That’s exactly where Otintiko comes in: a platform that makes these realities more visible, giving buyers clear reference points to buy — and reward — the artisans who shape these coffees at a fair price.

A storefront that truly tells the story of coffee

Otintiko is built as a marketplace where each seller can present their coffees clearly, with the information that matters: origin, terroir, varieties, processing (process), commercialization…

For individuals

Buy with understanding: simple cues to choose, the chance to discover singular coffees beyond the standards, and stronger transparency about what shapes a coffee’s character.

For professionals (roasters, coffee shops, etc.)

Source seriously: compare profiles, spot consistent lots, access useful information, and build a relationship of trust.

Otintiko is the idea of a bridge: between farm and cup, between a coffee’s story and the pleasure of tasting it.

If you’re looking for coffee that’s more transparent, more coherent, closer to origin — you’re in the right place.
